PROJECT DETAILS:

The new Austin Elementary School is built over the old historic structure. The design of the new school looked to preserve and reconstruct some of the familiar historic features. The new layout includes a two-story addition, a renovated cafeteria, and a kindergarten wing. The new two-story addition is laid out with classrooms on the outside and shared spaces in the middle to ensure the spaces where students spend the majority of the time have access to daylight. The shared spaces include teacher work rooms, collaboration rooms, and restrooms that can act as best areas of refuge.
