PROJECT DETAILS:

The new North Vernon Police Department provides the City of North Vernon with a dedicated facility designed around the daily needs of officers, staff, and the community. The approximately 10,400-square-foot building brings administrative offices, evidence processing and storage, interview rooms, training and conference space, secure holding areas, and public service functions together under one roof.

The design draws on North Vernon’s historic train depot, reflecting the city’s railroad heritage through the building’s form, materials, and architectural character. Rather than simply recreating the past, these elements give the new public safety facility a familiar civic presence that feels connected to North Vernon and its history.

Inside, public and secure areas are carefully organized to support efficient operations, officer safety, and clear circulation. Developed in close coordination with city leadership and law enforcement personnel, the completed facility provides the North Vernon Police Department with a functional, secure, and lasting home while carrying a piece of the community’s history into its next chapter.
