PROJECT DETAILS:

Lancer Associates designed the Johnson County Recycling Center in Franklin, Indiana, a nearly 10,000-square-foot facility that strengthens the county’s recycling operations while supporting long-term environmental sustainability initiatives. The new center improves the community’s ability to divert waste from landfills and responsibly manage recyclable materials.

The facility features two drive-through drop-off bays and three pickup bays that streamline circulation for residents and service vehicles, allowing materials to be efficiently sorted and processed. The center accepts recyclables, household hazardous waste, and electronic waste, offering safe, environmentally responsible disposal options.

Radiant floor heating in the garage areas improves energy efficiency and staff comfort, while offices, support spaces, and a community meeting room allow the facility to host sustainability workshops and environmental education programs. The building was designed with flexibility to accommodate future recycling and sustainability upgrades.
