PROJECT DETAILS:
The Johnson County Health Department serves as an essential public resource, providing health services to residents throughout the county. Lancer Associates partnered with county leadership to design a modern municipal facility that supports staff, improves public access, and allows the department to continue serving the community for years to come. The new facility will house the Health Department, Vital Records, nurse and patient rooms, and Coroner’s Office. This project created private and public spaces to ensure people are comfortable where they are but restricted with proper security when needed. Internal office areas focused on bringing natural light into workspaces while maintaining an efficient footprint. The Coroner’s Office consists of additional private office space, an autopsy suite, and an evidence room. To ensure the drop-off and pick-up of patients is done quickly and easily, the exterior of the building focuses on improving traffic flow under a secure canopy. The exterior design focused on creating a stately, timeless masonry building. With 16 open work areas housing staff cubicles, conference and break rooms, public/private restrooms, and general storage for the entire building, the project will seek to nurture relationships between the community and its care providers.
