PROJECT DETAILS:

Johnson County invested an estimated $5 Million to build a new Health Department whose primary role will support the health and safety of the county. The new facility will house the Health Department, Vital Records, nurse and patient rooms, and Coroner’s Office. This project created private and public spaces to ensure people are comfortable where they are but restricted with proper security when needed. Internal office areas focused on bringing natural light into workspaces while maintaining an efficient footprint. The Coroner’s Office consists of additional private office space, an autopsy suite, and evidence room. In order to ensure the drop-off and pick-up of patients is done quickly and easily, the exterior portion of the building focused on improving traffic flow under a secure canopy. The exterior design centered on creating a stately and timeless masonry building. With 16 open work areas housing cubicles for staff, conference and break rooms, public/private restrooms, and general storage for the whole building, the project will seek to nurture the relationships between the community and its care providers.
